Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked quinoa (185g)
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (60g)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (30g)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (15g)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30ml)
  • Burger buns and desired toppings

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork until they are mostly mashed but still have some texture.
  2. Add the cooked quinoa, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, cilantro, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Place them on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Carefully transfer the patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them cool slightly before assembling the burgers.
  6. Toast the burger buns if desired, then place a patty on each bun. Add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, avocado, or vegan cheese. Feel free to get creative!
  7. Serve the Quinoa and Black Bean Burgers with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a complete and satisfying meal.
