During the intermediate days of Sukkot 2026 (September 27 to October 1), families can visit a new visitor center in Dalyat al-Karmel, Shafik House of Knafeh, and take part in a hands-on knafeh-making workshop. Admission with a guided tour costs 45 NIS per person.
A New Space Connecting Food and Heritage
Shafik House of Knafeh is located on Dalia Street, at the entrance to Dalyat al-Karmel. The site houses a small museum telling the personal story of Shafik Badarya, who started making knafeh 41 years ago, alongside a view into the transparent kitchen where the dessert is prepared and the Druze tradition behind it. The experience is rounded out by a cafe and patisserie housed in an old stone building.

One of the site's standout attractions is a machine that produces kadaif strands in real time, letting visitors watch up close the step that precedes most knafeh dishes. The site makes four types of knafeh, alongside a sugar-free version and a pareve version, and visitors can also buy a home preparation kit to continue the experience at home.
Make Your Own Knafeh Workshop
The highlight of a family visit is a hands-on knafeh workshop, suitable for children and adults alike. During the workshop, participants learn the preparation stages and the ingredients behind the dessert, and at the end they make their own personal knafeh tray. Every participant receives a certificate of participation at the end of the workshop.
The workshop is suitable from age 4 and requires advance registration. The full activity, including a tour of the visitor center, lasts about 90 minutes.
