Ingredients

  • 1 (10-pound) fully cooked bone-in ham
  • 1 cup (240 ml) honey
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) ground nutmeg
  • Optional: whole cloves for garnish

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove any packaging from the ham and place it on a rack in a roasting pan.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground nutmeg. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is heated through and the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  4. Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep. If desired, insert whole cloves into the scored diamonds for added flavor.
  5. Brush the honey glaze generously over the entire surface of the ham, making sure to get into the scored diamonds.
  6. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 2 hours.
  7. After 2 hours, remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes, or until the ham is nicely browned and heated through. Baste the ham with the pan juices every 15 minutes during this last half hour of baking.
  8. Once done, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving.
  9. Serve slices of the honey glazed baked ham warm, and drizzle with any remaining pan juices for an extra burst of flavor.
