- 1 teaspoon (5g) garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (5g) onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) black pepper
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces/400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup (60ml) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup (120ml) water
- 1/4 cup (10g) chopped fresh basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Cooking Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, chopped parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, chopped basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and return the meatballs to the skillet. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- While the meatballs are simmering, heat a separate skillet over medium heat. Add the spiralized zucchini noodles and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until tender but still slightly crisp.
- Divide the zucchini noodles among serving plates. Top with the meatballs and tomato basil sauce.
- Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil, if desired. Serve hot.
